Books at a Steal

Spread hope and learning this holiday season.
With your Giving Tuesday gift to Books at a Steal, you can help our community to discover the joy of reading and close the literacy gap. This used book store which is operated as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization to provide support to us! One of the many ways we assist Lee County is through our Literacy Support Programs to improve community literacy. Books at a Steal is committed to promoting literacy in the community and make it possible for residents to own books at prices that are within their means...

Why Does Book Access Matter?
We are facing a growing literacy crisis. Today in the United States, more than 30 million adults cannot read or write above a third-grade level. Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own.

Today, we ask you to help us ensure that every child, adult, family has access to books.
If you are not able to donate, help spread the word! Share our fundraising page with friends, family, and others. However you choose to give, we are grateful for your support.

Programs which support our literacy efforts:

Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce. Through Little Free Library book exchanges, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
